The Parent Race: The Best Goal - Day 3

Opening Prayer:

Lord, you are so precious.  There is nothing that can compare to you.

Read: Proverbs 3:15 (NIV)

“She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.”

Reflect:

In The Lord of the Rings novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, he writes of a Hobbit named Sméagol who originally found this all-important ring.  He became so obsessed with it that he called it his ‘precious’.  His passion for the ring eventually changed his character from a normal friendly Hobbit into a gruesome creature called Gollum. That which we hold as precious has an equally solid hold on us as well.  It literally influences who we are.

Apply:

In life we have many things that are precious to us. Precious is defined as something of great value, priceless. In the scripture for today, Proverbs 3:15 describes wisdom as precious that cannot be compared.  God gives us this pure and holy gift of wisdom and it is critical that we value it and treasure it far beyond any other form of riches or power.  As we seek godly wisdom, we will become more like our heavenly father who gives it.  Now, what can compare with that?

Closing Prayer:

Lord, help us to safeguard your gift of wisdom.  As we seek you more, help us to become more like Jesus in every way.
